low tide Pedn Vounder and Porthcurno

Treen is an idyllic unspoilt rural hamlet, part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nestling at the top of Penberth valley, yet a short walk away from majestic granite cliffs teaming with wildlife and the golden sandy beaches and glistening turquoise sea of Pedn Vounder and Porthcurno (recently voted by The Times as one of the top ten beaches in the world). Treen Cliff, Treryn Dinas (Iron Age Cliff Castle / fort) and the world famous Logan Rock (a scheduled Ancient Monument), which form part of Treen Farm, are all SSSI (Site of Specific Scientific Interest) which we help to manage alongside the National Trust. Treen Farm is a 5th generation small family run 150 acre organic dairy farm. Ideally located for enjoying some of the best beaches in the world & the South West coastal footpath. One of the original providers of visitor accommodation in Treen, Treen Farm has been welcoming visitors from far and wide for over 50 years. Staying at Treen Farm is an alternative holiday cottage experience with so much more on offer directly from the doorstep. We still have 3 generations of the 'Halls' living and working on the farm, milking 25 Pedigree Guernsey cows for over 75 years. Organic conversion of Treen Farm began in 2000. In 2002 we were asked by the National Trust to help manage Treen Cliffs SSSI which included the Scheduled Ancient Monument of the Logan Rock and Treryn Dinas. Originally in a Countryside Stewardship Scheme, Treen Cliffs is now in Higher Level Stewardship. We began to pasteurise our delicious organic milk in 2012 to help ensure a more secure and sustainable price for our milk.
